If you enjoy discovering exhibitions that go beyond traditional formats, be sure to mark this event on your calendar. ZONAMACO LAB returns to Mexico City with “Radical Optimism,” an exhibition of digital and contemporary art that will feature installations, interactive works, and sensory experiences at Casa Hotbook.
This is the second edition, and it will take place from September 11 to October 11, 2026, curated by Damián Romero, founder and director of MUTEK Mexico. The exhibition explores how technology, images, and digital devices are transforming our attention, perception, and even the way we imagine the future.
What will you find at ZONAMACO LAB: Radical Optimism?
The exhibition draws on contradictions you’ll likely recognize: we’re increasingly connected, yet we can also feel more disconnected; technology offers new possibilities while altering our relationship with our bodies, our attention, and our surroundings.
Radical Optimism brings these questions into the realm of art through playful experiences, installations, interactive pieces, and sensory experiences designed specifically for the space. The exhibition addresses themes such as dopamine, ecosystems, and the technological narratives that are part of our daily lives.
There’s also an interesting selection of artists. Participants include Amiangelika, Brian Eno, CNDSD & Iván Abreu, Iregular, Linnea Goransson, Matthew Feyld, Orly Anan & Brian Close, Rodrigo Garrido, Stefan Brüggemann, and Tania Candiani.
Digital art and installations in Lomas de Chapultepec
This will be the second edition of ZONAMACO LAB, a platform that extends ZONAMACO’s mission beyond the traditional art fair through temporary projects, interactive installations, and new ways for art to engage with its audiences.
In “Radical Optimism,” optimism is presented as an act of informed resistance. Rather than offering definitive answers about our relationship with technology, the exhibition seeks to construct possible scenarios and futures through imagination, critique, and play.
