Draw your swords and don your armor! This weekend, you have to visit the medieval Barakah Castle in Texcoco—a place inspired by a European fortress that will transport you back in time through its architecture, cuisine, and a program of themed activities.
The tour begins at the Portal de Mercaderes restaurant, located inside the castle, which offers a menu of Mexican appetizers, international dishes, and cocktails to make your visit last longer.
The medieval experience doesn’t stop at the restaurant; your visit will be enhanced by guided tours of the grounds, as well as a series of activities such as archery and javelin throwing. Occasionally, the venue organizes festivals and exhibitions, which it announces on its social media channels.
General Considerations

To join the castle tours, they are held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., lasting 45 to 60 minutes. If you’re in a group of fewer than 10 people, you can request admission directly at the front desk; however, for groups of 10 or more, reservations are required via WhatsApp (+52 1 56 3452 5871) to guarantee your spot.
They also offer private tours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays starting at 12:00 p.m., which require a reservation and a 100% advance payment.
As for admission fees, the cost for adults is $100 and for children, $50. Infants, birthday celebrants (upon presentation of an INE or ID card), INAPAM cardholders, and people with disabilities are admitted free of charge.
Plus, if you dine at the restaurant, you’ll receive a 30% discount on your tour by presenting your same-day receipt.
At the end of your visit, you can access the final section called the Medieval Circuit, available Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Here, both children and adults can enjoy activities such as javelin throwing, archery, and training with foam or paintball swords. This section does not require a prior reservation, but please note that each activity costs $60.
Please note that pets are not allowed, with the exception of service animals.
Please note that the castle and the Portal de Mercaderes Restaurant are separate establishments. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
