As you probably already know, National Corn Day is celebrated in September —a very important date for Mexico’s culinary culture and national identity. To celebrate in style, the Great National Corn Festival will take place in Mexico City’s Zócalo.
This festival will take place on September 29, as announced by the Unit for Living Cultures, Intangible Heritage, and Interculturality (UCUVI) on social media.
During the event, lovers of corn on the cob, esquites, and basically all Mexican snacks will be able to enjoy not only their versatility but also workshops and lectures.
In addition, the program includes fun games and activities, a fascinating exhibition of the names for corn in indigenous languages, an interactive mural featuring messages and drawings, and the presentation of recipes where the main ingredient is, of course, our beloved corn. The activities will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Get ready to satisfy your cravings and let all your friends know to come enjoy this cultural and culinary celebration—because it’s not every day you get to experience an elotiza in Mexico City’s Zócalo.
