On October 26, the Historic Center’s Day of the Dead Festival will begin, featuring all kinds of activities, including nighttime bike rides, exhibitions, workshops, and many offerings.
At a press conference, details were revealed about some of the activities planned for the “Entre Xolos y Catrinas 2026” Festival. All of them will take place in different areas of Mexico City’s Historic Center, such as Plaza Tolsá, Madero Street, and San Ildefonso Street, to name a few.
What will the Day of the Dead Festival in the Historic Center feature?
First of all, you should get your bike ready because on October 29 there will be a nighttime bike ride through the Historic Center, during which you’ll visit iconic sites in this part of Mexico City.
However, these aren’t the only tours available. Centrobús will offer a special Day of the Dead tour on October 28 and 30, which will cost just $5 and require advance registration. It will feature theatrical performances and actors in costume.
If you’re looking for marigolds, be sure to stop by San Ildefonso Square, where there will be a fair dedicated to this flower. In addition, there will be other activities in different areas, such as workshops and an offering festival.
This Day of the Dead festival will conclude on November 1 with two events: at 11:00 a.m., there will be a “xolos” walk from Plaza Seminario to El Rule, passing through Madero Street along the way. Meanwhile, at 6:00 p.m., you’ll find a parade of catrinas and catrines, which will also feature a calenda. It will go from República de Argentina to Plaza Tolsá, where the activities will continue until 9:00 or 10:00 p.m.
