Who wouldn’t want to devour a good read accompanied by a conversation about food, recipes, and flavors? If you’re the kind of person who collects heirloom cookbooks, loves fanzines, or is passionate about cooking, you’ve got to check out the 2026 Edible Book Fair.
What exactly is it? It’s a gathering organized by the Gallina de Guinea Bookstore, a project launched in 2025 with the mission of connecting curious readers with illustrators, authors, and various independent publishers across the country.
For three consecutive days, you’ll have the chance to buy new publications, discover the creative processes of the exhibitors, and chat directly with the people who make the books.
What’s on the program?
The schedule is divided between free activities and hands-on workshops that require a fee.
The free discussion sessions will take place at the Jardín Gallina de Guinea (located at Aureliano Rivera 4, San Ángel). Here, fascinating topics will be explored, such as the preservation of culinary archives, incredible recipes to ward off fear, the psychology behind disgust toward certain foods, and the current challenges of self-publishing a literary work.
If you’d rather get hands-on, the workshops have a $500 fee and require advance registration to secure your spot at the Le Petit Lola venue (at 14 Amargura Street, San Ángel).
The options are incredible! You can learn to make traditional Milpa Alta sweets with amaranth, prepare Mexican sauces in a volcanic molcajete, design your own engraved ex libris, or even master the art of fruit carving by carving a watermelon.
Mark all the details in your calendar: from Friday, November 6, to Sunday, November 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., you’re invited to celebrate and explore how we relate to food.
Bring a cloth bag and don’t miss the chance to experience a weekend full of flavor and print culture at the 2026 Edible Book Fair!
