Get your camera ready and put on your most comfortable sneakers because Paseo de la Reforma will host an exhibition of monumental alebrijes. You’ll see dozens of pieces crafted by artisans from across the country. It’s a free event.
Through an announcement, the Museum of Popular Art revealed the date of the 2026 Monumental Alebrijes Parade, a free event that includes an exhibition along Paseo de la Reforma.
The parade will take place on Saturday, October 17, at 12:00 p.m. sharp. It will start at the Zócalo in Mexico City and end on Paseo de la Reforma, right at the Angel of Independence. Afterward, you’ll be able to see all the pieces on that street as part of an exhibition that will last several days.
When will the exhibition of monumental alebrijes take place on Paseo de la Reforma?
The exhibition will begin at 8:00 p.m. on October 17—that is, the same day as the parade. It will remain on Paseo de la Reforma until November 8, 2026. You can view it 24 hours a day, as it is an outdoor exhibition.
The alebrijes you’ll see are the ones participating in the parade. They’ll be placed between the Angel of Independence and the Estela de Luz. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes because the route is quite long and you’ll be walking for a while.
The best part is that you’ll be able to take photos with the alebrijes on display. The event is already a tradition in Mexico City, and in 2026 it will celebrate its 18th edition.
