If you love good food, tradition, and artisanal flavors, get ready—because very soon you’ll be able to enjoy the 2026 Bread and Gastronomy Fair in Tlacotepec, Morelos. This highly anticipated event will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Plaza Cívica.
The fair is part of the patron saint festival in honor of the Virgin of the Assumption, which began on July 27 and will end on August 16. One of the most anticipated highlights will be this culinary event, where you’ll get to taste the flavors of oven-baked dishes.
Get ready to meet the Queens of the Bread Fair, who are master bakers with more than 30 years of experience.
Among the highlights, you’ll be able to enjoy the 5th National Dance Festival, performances by the Alas de Oro Folk Dance Group, the Bakers’ Dance, the Little Bakers’ Dance from the guest state of Tlaxcala, and a performance by the Chiapas Folk Dance Group.
In addition to the culinary offerings and the tour of the bread and gastronomy alley, the program includes the photography exhibition “Tlacotepec Through Time” and a workshop on making artisanal bread led by local bakers.
There will also be “Tlacotepec 2026 Experience” sightseeing tours to visit the former Chicomocelo Hacienda, the Zoloxúchitl Community Museum, the Casa de Panadera, and a tomato nursery. To wrap up the day’s activities, Cornelio Santa María’s Tlayacapan Band will perform.
According to El Sol de Cuautla, Tlacotepec is a region famous for its bread known as “Pan de Mujer.” It’s called that because the recipe has been passed down from generation to generation among women bakers. It’s usually sweet and baked in a wood-fired oven. Are you up for trying it?
