One of Mexico’s most beloved snacks is about to celebrate its own festival. It’s the Tlacoyo Festival, which in 2026 is coming to the Pueblo Mágico of Chignahuapan to win you over with its versatility and flavor.
This culinary event is part of the Patron Saint Festivities in honor of St. James the Apostle, an event that will take place from July 18 to 26 and will feature a host of cultural activities.
We foodies didn’t waste any time and are already making plans to attend the tlacoyos feast, which will take place on Sunday, July 19.
But, as we mentioned, this won’t be the only activity on the program—you can also take part in the Great Horseback Ride, a route that will depart from the famous Honguito Shrine and conclude with a celebration dedicated to Saint James the Apostle; this event will take place on Saturday, July 25.
What better way to wrap up the festivities than with another round of delicious flavors at the Barbacoa and Pulque Festival, where you’ll discover Chignahuapan’s culinary traditions as well as its pulque-drinking customs. The feast featuring barbacha taquitos and piping-hot consommé will be on Sunday, July 26.
