No bail! Parking attendants and people who reserve spaces in Mexico City will be punished with 24 to 36 hours of arrest.
In August 2025, the Mexico City Congress approved non-commutable arrest for those who reserve, obstruct, and demand payment for watching, parking, or washing a car on public roads. It should be noted that this practice is classified as privatization of public space.
This measure seeks to curb misappropriation and enforce the rights of free transit, safe mobility, and the use of public space.
