The iconic Blue House, located in the heart of Coyoacán, was Frida Kahlo ’s home for 36 years of her life. The walls of that house (which is now a magnificent museum) witnessed many ideas and stages of the Mexican artist’s life.
Now, this summer, the Blue House will host the Frida Kahlo Museum’s ARTEVERANO for the third time on its terrace—a series of workshops where you can learn to paint and develop your own artistic creations.
This isn’t a traditional course like so many others, but rather an experience that will allow you to disconnect from reality in the very place where Frida built much of her artistic universe.
What are the ARTEVERANO classes like at the Frida Kahlo Museum?
The ARTEVERANO classes will focus on oil pastels, a technique that can fascinate both those who have never taken a drawing class and those who are deeply immersed in the art world.
The program will consist of three sessions, each lasting four hours (12 hours total), during which you’ll learn to paint fruits, flowers, everyday objects, and more. All of this will be inspired by Frida Kahlo’s works , which feature still lifes and naturalistic scenes.
Plus, you’ll learn more about topics such as composition, light, shadow, form, volume, and personal expression in oil pastel painting. The best part? You don’t need any prior experience—just come with a strong desire to enjoy the creative process.
What does this experience include?
Your registration includes in-person workshops, a personal art supply kit, use of tools during classes, an introduction to basic oil pastel techniques, and a brief overview of Frida Kahlo’s work and her still lifes.
You’ll also receive personalized guidance from workshop instructors who specialize in the topics covered in each session.

There are two groups available so you can choose the one that best fits your schedule: the Saturday group (July 11, 18, and 25) and the Wednesday through Friday group (July 29, 30, and 31). Both run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
