Keep an eye on the sky. In September we will have the opportunity to see the Atlas comet, which has the potential to become the brightest object of the century. We bring you all the information about this astronomical spectacle. đźŚ
According to UNAM Global comet A3 Tsuchinshan-Atlas will reach its closest approach to the Sun on September 27; while it will be very close to our planet next October 12 (note well this date).
will comet Atlas be the brightest comet of the century?
Much has been said about this comet being the brightest of the 21st century; however, Dr. René A. Ortega Minakata, from the Institute of Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics of the UNAM, explains that it is still too early to tell.
While there is a good chance that the so-called comet of the century will be very bright, it will be mid-August before we can tell whether it will increase in brightness or stay the same. It is also important to remember that comets do not shine by themselves, but rather, what we see is the result of the reflection of sunlight.
If everything goes according to plan, we will be able to see it with the naked eye. The best time to see it will be during the Twilight of the sunset and of the sunrise.
The passage of this comet is extremely relevant because, as the specialist explains, it is not a periodic comet, so this may be the only time it crosses our solar system. What do you think? Stay tuned as, as the date approaches, more information will be offered about this astronomical spectacle, which will be appreciated worldwide.
