This Saturday, November 1st, Xochimilco will celebrate the Day of the Dead with a calavereada! It is a thematic tour with live music, legends and many surprises.
This weekend ends the spooky season and we recommend you make the most of it.
“La Gran Calavereada 2025” is an excellent option, because you will walk along with huehuenches, chinelos and comparsas. You will visit different points, such as the Cathedral of San Bernardo de Siena, the Plazuela del Barrio de San Cristobal and the Plazuela del Barrio de San Juan.
There will be three different routes
The calavereada includes three different routes. Each one has a different starting point, but they all arrive at El Chinelo (in front of the Fernando Celada pier). Here are the starting points:
- Route A: Pedro Ramírez del Castillo street corner with Justo Sierra.
- Route B: Plazuela del Barrio de San Cristobal
- Route C: from Yucatán street
Please note that the tours start at 6:00 pm. You can check the map here.
In addition, each one will have different shows. Tour A will feature the bands Tornado and L+B. Tour B will dance with La Efectiva Banda La Loka, while Tour C will experience the legend of La Llorona.
In addition to the calavereada, there are other Day of the Dead activities in Xochimilco.

This weekend there are plenty of free activities that you can enjoy in this district. For example, the festival “La puerta del Inframundo” will have ballet, dance and even a tribute to Juan Gabriel.
Don’t miss out on the Day of the Dead season and make the most of it.
