Capitanes of Mexico City: a career on the rise.
The story of this team begins in 2016, although they officially debuted in the National Professional Basketball League on October 26, 2017. From the beginning they demonstrated their talent, reaching the finals in their first two tournaments.
They finally debuted in the NBA G League during the 2021-2022 season, this after postponing their arrival in the league due to the covid-19 pandemic. It should be noted that they are the first Latin American team to join the NBA’s minor league.
Their mascot is Juanjolote, which represents the emblematic ajolote, which is native to the CDMX -and which all of us chilangos love-.
For the next two years they will continue under the command of Ramón Díaz, head coach who has been part of the team for six years.
