The Alameda de Santa María la Ribera will host the Festival de Cartonería, a colorful celebration alluding to the Day of the Dead. In this 2025 edition, the event will be inspired by the traditional ofrendas.
This is the perfect plan to enjoy with the whole family. There will be workshops, music, crafts bazaar, gastronomy and many other activities.
One of the main attractions will be the exhibition of monumental figures made of cardboard. This year there will be three main pieces: a devil, an alebrije and a half-skull doll, as well as two giant skeletons over four meters high.
As the theme revolves around offerings, you will find a wide variety of items to decorate your altar, all made by artisans.
Date and schedule of the Day of the Dead Cardboard Festival

The date is from October 16 to 19, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, at the Alameda de Santa María la Ribera, right where the emblematic Kiosco Morisco is located.
Admission is free, so invite your favorite people and enjoy this weekend plan.
Other activities to remember those who are no longer here

In addition to this festival, the season is full of events dedicated to honoring our loved ones. One of the must-see is the concert “Celebrando el Día de los Muertos“, with songs such as Amor eterno, Hasta la raíz, La Llorona and Paloma negra.
This show combines music with the light of hundreds of candles, creating a nostalgic and moving atmosphere: a true tribute to those who live in our memory. See all the details here.
