Very close to the Tlatelolco Metro station, a space celebrating Mexican folk art has opened its doors. This is the Galería Arte en Cartonería, the place in Mexico City where cardboard was painted in colors and took on fantastic shapes.
Located in the Guerrero neighborhood, this new site is much more than an art gallery: it is a way to preserve the craft of cardboard art.
The project was created by Cartoneros de la Ciudad de México, a collective of artists who pour all their talent into pieces such as masks, skulls, alebrijes, and other iconic characters from our culture.
Now their works are on display in this venue where creativity knows no bounds; visitors can admire everything from minute details to giant figures that will steal your attention.

Of course, in addition to contemplating the pieces, you can take home the ones you like best to decorate your spaces or even to surprise someone with a very original gift.
They also offer different workshops where you can learn traditional cardboard craft techniques, as well as mojiganga rentals for events.
