On Day of the Dead, there are many symbols that can not miss, such as papel picado, cempasúchil and the essential figure of the catrina. That’s why “Catrinas of the World” is coming, a night event that will show us how this popular character of the season of the dead also lives in other parts of the planet.
This encounter will make us feel that we are spending the Day of the Dead in different regions because we will be able to see catrinas of multiple colors, costumes and makeup along with invited countries.
When and where will be the “Catrinas of the World” night?
The elegant bones that are popular in the Day of the Dead are so important in Mexican culture that they break borders, that is why “Catrinas del mundo” will be a cultural event that will show us catrinas with representations from other countries.
The date for this show will be October 29th at the National Museum of World Cultures (Moneda 13, Centro Histórico), from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
It will be an evening that will have a wonderful catwalk, music, dance and tours through the rooms of the venue where the show will take place.
We will be able to see catrinas with dazzling costumes and incredible make-up that will have symbols and cultural references from Japan, Egypt, Norway, Ireland, Australia and Mexico.
This way we will know how countries from different continents join the tribute to death and, like Mexicans, express their love to their faithful departed with art.
Access is free and without prior registration, but space is limited, so arrive early to enjoy this experience that will be part of the Night of Museums in October.
