Last Monday, February 24, Profeco announced that cashless wristbands will not disappear; however, they will no longer be able to charge commissions for their use. This is all you need to know.
This system has been used for some time in music festivals and other events in order to replace the use of cash during them. After a review by the Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (Profeco) it was determined that cashless can continue to be used, but with some changes.
This was determined by Profeco regarding cashless wristbands.
In a press conference, Iván Escalante Ruiz, head of Profeco, explained that there will no longer be a commission for pre-charging or cash back; in addition, cashless devices will no longer be sold. This does not mean that they will disappear, but rather that you will no longer be charged for acquiring them.
These changes will be immediate, so commissions will no longer be charged at these events: Vive Latino, Tecate Emblema, Festival Arre, Gran Premio de la Ciudad de México, NASCAR, Corona Capital and Flow Fest.
“The system will continue to be used… what was agreed with the company is that the devices will no longer be sold because there are some events where they were sold, there will no longer be a charge for any pre-charge and there will no longer be a charge for returning the money that remains accumulated,” detailed the official through a video published on his social networks.
