If you’re looking for a different kind of outing for your little ones, the Jardín Escénico will host a new festival filled with theater, workshops, literature, and outdoor activities. For six days, this cultural space in Chapultepec will become a gathering place where imagination, art, and nature come together as a community.
From May 12 to 17, the Performance Pavilion, the Creation Lab, and the grounds’ green spaces will host performances and experiences designed especially for the little ones. The program includes street theater, audio storytelling, drawing workshops, and biodiversity exploration activities.
A giant elephant will arrive at the Jardín Escénico
One of the most eye-catching events will be El paso del elefante, a street theater show starring Stampy, a giant puppet that will roam the green spaces to transform the area into an interactive and visual experience for young and old alike. Performances will take place on May 16 and 17 at 11:00 a.m.
There will also be plays such as Cati, Catalina, Calicó… or the Wonderful Life of the Cat Girl, in which a kitten completely changes the life of a girl obsessed with control, and Tránsito cinco: Shuka and the Stars, a story inspired by the Mapuche worldview.
In addition, during the festival you’ll find audiobooks from Alas y Raíces, painting workshops featuring Mexican birds and fish, as well as observation and drawing activities to connect with the area’s natural surroundings.
There will be workshops and activities for the whole family to enjoy together
The program is designed so that children and adults can participate together in these creative experiences and have the time of their lives. Several activities will take place in the green spaces, making it a great opportunity to enjoy an afternoon outdoors in Chapultepec Forest.
Among the highlights are “Love the Small Things,” a drawing and plant-and-tree observation workshop; “Untamed Nature: Painting Birds and Fish of Mexico, ” focused on biodiversity and conservation; and the audiobook experience, available all day in the reading room.
This plan is perfect for spending quality time with the family, unleashing your creativity, and enjoying a little time outdoors in the city.
