The date is here! The Wild Mushroom Fair will take place in Chapultepec on August 1 and 2. It’s an event where you’ll learn more about mushrooms and sample must-try dishes like tamales and even pickled mushrooms. Admission is free.
It’s during the rainy season that we can find the most mushrooms. This fair will celebrate the fungal kingdom through various activities and must-try dishes. You’ll be able to participate in workshops as well as attend various talks.
The best part is that there will also be mushroom-inspired merchandise for sale. Mark your calendar because the event will only last two days. It’s this weekend!
Schedule, date, and details for the Wild Mushroom Fair in Chapultepec
This fair will take place on August 1 and 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The venue will be the Los Pinos Cultural Complex (Molino del Rey 252, First Section of Chapultepec Forest, Miguel Hidalgo borough).
There will be no shortage of dishes made with mushrooms. In a press release, the Ministry of Culture announced that the Cocinas de Humo area will feature foods made with mushrooms and cultivated wild mushrooms from Hidalgo, the State of Mexico, and several districts of Mexico City.
In addition, pickled mushrooms, fermented beverages, cookies, mushroom churros, mushroom-based ice cream, tamales, and even amaranth with mushrooms will be on sale. The culinary offerings will be extensive.
As for the workshops and activities, biologist Carlos Briones will lead a workshop on the cultivation and harvesting of Mexican mushrooms. There will also be activities for children.
