A historic mansion in the Juárez neighborhood will be transformed into a tribute to the cornfield, the maguey plant, and Mexican traditions. The venue is General Prim 30, which will host the Proyectos Públicos 2026 Day of the Dead altar—a free four-day celebration featuring flowers, cuisine, and cultural activities.
From October 30 to November 2, this venue will open its doors to present *Volver a la Tierra*, the sixth edition of an offering that seeks to remember those who are no longer with us and to recognize the knowledge passed down through generations.
The best part is that admission will be free, although you’ll need to register in advance.
General Prim 30: a historic mansion that will be filled with flowers and tradition
Located in the Juárez neighborhood, General Prim 30 is part of a complex of historic buildings. One of its buildings was completed in 1906, and today the complex serves as a venue for artistic and cultural events.
For this edition, the General Prim offering will be inspired by the Central Altiplano, a region that encompasses parts of Puebla, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, the State of Mexico, and Mexico City.
The cornfield, the maguey, the flowers, water, and food will take center stage in an installation that explores the relationship between communities, nature, and the traditions that remain alive today.
Through these elements, the altar aims to remind us that the earth not only provides us with food, but also holds stories, knowledge, and ways of understanding life and death.
What will be featured at Proyectos Públicos’ Day of the Dead altar?
In addition to touring the installation, the public will be able to enjoy a cultural program featuring workshops, talks, storytelling, and events for all ages.
The Proyectos Públicos offering aims to become a community space where different generations can share stories and reflect on the memories, traditions, and foods that are part of our identity.
You’ll find the detailed program of activities here. The celebration will take place over four days, and admission is free with prior registration.
