Procession is the name of the monumental ofrenda that was installed in the Zocalo of CDMX as part of the Day of the Dead 2024 activities. It is made up of cardboard calacas that will impress you.
The installation will have 21 pieces measuring between 6 and 10 meters high. These works are made by the artistic collective Taller de Arte Xibalbá, which was inspired by the comparsas and the work of engraver Eduardo Robledo Rincón.
The megaofrenda will also feature a pair of trajineras, a monumental chinampa and even a field of cempasúchil with 10 thousand plants harvested by producers from Xochimilco.
The monumental ofrenda in the Zócalo will feature a large water mirror that will leave you open-mouthed, as it measures more than 200 square meters.
Also, you will see the Day of the Dead commemorative lighting in the buildings surrounding Plaza de la Constitución and 20 de Noviembre Avenue.
This year’s theme is related to the flower growers in Xochimilco. It is a scene where skulls are harvesting orange and red cempasúchiles. Also, there is a skull with a cempasúchil crown. Keep in mind that this decoration is best appreciated at night.
