Dead excited! After several years of waiting, the emblematic Dolores Olmedo Museum confirmed its reopening through a statement on social networks.
The statement details that it will officially reopen its doors in 2026, and although a specific date has not yet been revealed, this news marks the long-awaited return of one of the most beloved cultural venues in the CDMX.
Located in La Noria, Xochimilco, the museum has been consolidating itself as a unique space for 25 years, housing fundamental works by Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, as well as a vast collection belonging to the Dolores Olmedo Trust.
This space is not only recognized for its artistic collections, but also for its natural environment: lush gardens, xoloitzcuintles, pavorreales and a viceregal architecture that turned the visit into a complete sensory and cultural experience.

Since its closure in 2021 for a restoration and modernization process, the Dolores Olmedo Museum has carried out a series of key works to preserve and improve its precinct. Among the work highlights:
- Registration, cataloging and digitization of the pre-Hispanic and popular collections.
- Conservation and digitalization of Dolores Olmedo’s library and personal archives.
- Fitting out of new spaces within the precinct.
- Technological updating and installation of new security systems.
- Structural reinforcement of the historic building.
- Maintenance and rehabilitation of floors and slabs.
- Permanent activities for the care of the flora and fauna, including its emblematic xoloitzcuintles and peacocks.
