Save the date! Starting this weekend you can see an exhibition of miniatures at the Museo del Estanquillo. More than 600 pieces will be exhibited in homage to the Oaxacan artist Roberto Ruiz. Admission is free.
In the exhibition “Roberto Ruiz. Giant of the miniature” you will see hundreds of pieces carved in bone, which were elaborated between 1960 and 1990 by this artist. Among the figures you will see are archangels, skeletons, catrinas and national heroes, according to information from the Secretariat of Culture of Mexico City.
In addition, everyday scenes inspired in Oaxaca are interpreted. It is worth mentioning that Ruiz is one of the most important exponents of Mexican popular art. Come and see some of his work.
When can I see the exhibition of miniatures at the Museo del Estanquillo?

The exhibition will be inaugurated this Saturday, July 19 and will remain open until December 2025. All the pieces you will see are part of the Carlos Monsiváis collection.
You will also appreciate some pieces by José Manuel and Abraham Ruiz, sons of the artist, who continue with the activity of bone sculpture. Take advantage of the weekend to visit this exhibition in Room 3 of the Museo del Estanquillo (Isabel la Católica 26, Centro Histórico).
Access is free of charge. Remember that this museum of the Historic Center of Mexico City is open from Wednesday to Monday from 10:00 to 18:00 hours.
