
Artists, collectives and neighbors related to the Tepito neighborhood joined forces to present a new exhibition at the José María Velasco Gallery. You will see around 80 works of art that are related to the culture, life and trades of this place.
The exhibition is called From the heart of the neighborhood. Tepito deep roots, voices that resonate and is divided into three nuclei.
In the first you will learn about the history of Tepito through memories, the second is called Entre oficios y talleres (focused on common work and practices), while the third is a reflection on resistance and other forms of inhabiting.
You will see paintings, graphics, photographs, object art and paintings. It should be noted that the pieces in this exhibition are the work of people who live, lived or have a close relationship with the Tepito neighborhood.
For example, Lourdes Ruíz known as La reina del Albur, the Tepito ArteAcá collective and the Barrio Bravo collective, just to mention a few.
This exhibition will be available until August 3, 2025 at Galería José María Velasco ( 📍 Peralvillo 55, Morelos). You can attend Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 and admission is free.
