The Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone is currently hosting an exhibition where you’ll see a rubber ball that is more than 3,600 years old. This exhibition will be on display for a limited time.
The first thing you need to know is that this exhibition features three balls: two replicas and one original. In a press release, the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) explained that the purpose of this exhibition is to commemorate the “discovery of 14 balls, recovered between 1988 and 1996 at the El Manatí archaeological site, which were part of an offering and date from between 1700 and 1500 B.C.”
In addition, there is a tactile ball that visitors can handle. The exhibition “Ritual Rubber: Millennia-Old Balls” will be on view through August; however, the exact closing date has not been specified, so don’t wait too long to visit.
