Do you already have plans for the weekend? Grab your comfiest clothes and head out on this firefly-watching tour in Mexico City. It’s called “Luces en el Bosque,” a nighttime walk where you’ll see these insects.
We’re in the middle of the rainy season, which means the fireflies are already here. One of the places where you can see them is at the Ecoguardas Environmental Culture Center (Picacho Ajusco Highway, km 5.5, Ampliación Miguel Hidalgo neighborhood, Tlalpan borough).
This venue offers special tours where you’ll not only see many fireflies glowing in the night, but you’ll also enjoy the forest’s biodiversity.
When will the firefly-viewing tour take place in Mexico City in 2026?
According to a press release from Mexico City’s Ministry of the Environment, tours will be held on July 3, 4, 10, and 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It’s the weekend, so forget about everything else and head out for a magical evening.
The cost per person is $38, and you must register in advance to attend. You must fill out this form, providing your name, email address, age, the date you’ll be attending, and the number of people coming with you.
Since this is a nighttime activity and due to the rain, we recommend wearing comfortable, waterproof clothing. It’s also important to wear shoes suitable for walking and to bring a flashlight.
