Summer in Mexico City is made for getting lost among museums, so for those summer plans filled with art, the Frida Kahlo Museum (also known as the Blue House) will have special temporary hours so you can enjoy the magical afternoons and evenings of June and July.
During these two months, Frida Kahlo’s famous Blue House will be the perfect cultural retreat after sunset. Here are the new temporary hours so you can plan your visit; we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance here.
Here are the summer hours to enjoy the Blue House
With its beautiful garden, personal belongings, and artworks, the Mexican painter’s home is one of the must-see museums for immersing yourself in the life of one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
Although touring the house where Frida Kahlo was born, lived, and died is a great idea no matter when, this summer there will be extended hours to enjoy the afternoons of June and July at this cultural venue.

From Thursday through Saturday, from June 12 to July 31, you can visit the Frida Kahlo Museum from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM during its Blue Summer season. This way, you can watch the sunset and the golden glow of the setting sun over its wonderful garden and bedrooms during this time of year.
In addition to the special hours, you can continue visiting the House-Museum on Tuesdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can purchase tickets online here; we recommend buying them now to secure your spot.
From the rooms to the garden: here’s everything the Frida Kahlo Museum has to offer
Located in the heart of Coyoacán, in the Colonia del Carmen neighborhood at 247 Londres Street, the Blue House is a must-see for lovers of Mexican art and culture because it was here that Frida found a refuge for her personal life and a studio for her creative exploration.
It was also the place where Frida Kahlo hosted great historical figures, such as Leon Trotsky, André Breton, Juan O’Gorman, Dr. Atl, Sergei Eisenstein, María Félix, among others.

The Frida Kahlo Museum features the artist’s personal belongings, such as dresses, work tools, photos, and more, as well as some of her works (including “Viva la vida” and her first self-portrait).
The tour will allow you to discover every corner of the Blue House, from the kitchen, the family dining room, and Frida’s studio to the incredible garden (which is sure to be enchanting during summer evenings).
If you’re looking for a museum to visit on vacation, a nighttime activity in Coyoacán, or just want an excuse to return (or visit for the first time) to one of Mexico City’s most popular museums, get your tickets here in advance.
