The day has arrived! This Sunday, August 9, Gato Fest 2026 will take place in Mexico City. It’s a charity event where you’ll learn more about cats and can support rescued cats. We’ve got all the details for you.
The first thing to keep in mind is that the event will last only one day. You can attend on August 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the esplanade of the Miguel Hidalgo City Hall.
What will be at Gato Fest 2026 in Mexico City?
The event will feature many activities. There will be regional dance performances, live music, a play, and even an opera recital.
As for the workshops, there will be several. For example, in one you’ll learn how to make an origami kitten, and in another you’ll create a good-luck charm out of felt. There will even be a workshop where you can make a bouquet of kitten flowers. All workshops will have limited space. Some will have a fee, while others will be free.
In addition, there will be vendors at the event selling cat-related or cat-inspired items. You’ll find all kinds of products to pamper your pet.
As we mentioned, this is a charity event. The goal is to help nearly a thousand cats. You can donate wet food, dry food, beds, toys, litter, scratching posts, bowls, and cleaning supplies, as well as medications and first-aid supplies.
If you’re taking public transportation, keep in mind that the closest station is Parque Lira (Metrobús Line 2).
If you’re taking the Metro, you can get off at the Tacubaya or Constituyentes station, though from there you’ll need to walk a little over 10 minutes.
