Are you one of those people who can never resist buying another book? Mark these dates on your calendar because one of the city’s favorite events for readers is coming. The Great Sale of Books, Albums, and Movies returns to Mexico City with thousands of titles at very low prices.
In this 21st edition, publishers and institutions will be selling copies that have typically remained in storage and, if they don’t find a reader, could end up being destroyed. The idea is simple yet powerful: to rescue books and give them a new life.
For five days, you can browse different booths featuring novels, essays, children’s books, poetry, comics, albums, and movies, many of them at truly irresistible prices.

The best part? Books will start at just $10 pesos, making this the perfect opportunity to expand your library without breaking the bank.
In addition to finding true publishing treasures, the atmosphere is usually very special: readers browsing through piles of books, spontaneous recommendations among strangers, and the pleasure of discovering unexpected titles.
A sale to rescue books at the Monument to the Revolution
The event will once again take place on the esplanade of the Monument to the Revolution, one of the city’s most iconic cultural spaces. Dozens of booths will be set up there where you can browse through thousands of copies.
The Great Book Sale in Mexico City is organized by the Mexico City Ministry of Culture together with the Brigade for Reading in Freedom, two initiatives that have been promoting reading in the capital for years.
So if you have a long list of books to read or simply enjoy getting lost among stacks of pages, this event could turn out to be one of the best literary adventures of the spring.
Get ready to explore, discover, and—of course—rescue more than one book before it disappears.
