If you’re looking for new things to do in the second half of the year, mark these dates on your calendar. From September 1 to November 30, Mexico City will be one of the venues for La Gran Fiesta Franco-Mexicana, a celebration that will bring together exhibitions, concerts, film, dance, and culinary experiences to commemorate 200 years of friendship between Mexico and France.
For three months, museums, cultural centers, and other venues in the capital will host activities designed to introduce the public to French art and culture. One of the most anticipated events will be the exhibition *Las Formas de la Energía*, which will bring 40 works from the Centre Pompidou to the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes.
There will be exhibitions, films, photography, and even a food festival
The program includes something for everyone. The celebration will kick off on September 1 with the exhibition “France-Mexico: 200 Years of Relations and Friendship,” which will open its doors at the Vasconcelos Library.
More activities will follow, such as an exhibition of contemporary French photography at the Centro de la Imagen, the “Ellas dirigen” film series at the Cineteca Nacional, and the ¡Qué gusto! food festival at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, where you can discover flavors inspired by French cuisine.
In addition, the Cervantino International Festival will join the celebration with France as the guest country, while groups such as the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Theater Company, and the National Dance Company will offer special performances.
There will also be an exchange of cultural heritage pieces between the two countries, as well as lectures, performing arts shows, and academic activities that will take place at various venues in Mexico City and 20 other cities across the country.
