Arena México, also known as the Cathedral of Lucha Libre, was inaugurated on April 27, 1956; however, its history begins much earlier, in 1933, when, thanks to Salvador Lutteroth González, the first wrestling event in Mexico took place.
The venue for that event was the Arena Modelo, a space that was later remodeled to become the Arena México. Throughout its history, this Mexico City venue has hosted all kinds of events; for example, in 1968, it hosted the boxing competitions for the Olympic Games.
When can I watch wrestling at Arena México?
This iconic venue in Mexico City hosts wrestling events several days a week. According to the venue’s official website, wrestling events take place on Tuesdays (7:30 p.m.), Fridays (8:30 p.m.), and Sundays (5:00 p.m.). You can check the schedule on their website or official social media channels.
It is worth mentioning that Arena México currently hosts Mitos en el Ring, a show that combines wrestling with a reinterpretation of pre-Hispanic myths.
