Have you ever worked and made contributions to the IMSS or ISSSTE, but don’t know what happened to your retirement savings? Don’t worry! Even if you’ve never chosen an Afore or don’t remember which one you have, there’s a free way to find out without leaving home.
First, you should know that an Afore is the institution that manages the money you save for retirement. If you’ve had a formal job, you may already have an account, even if you never signed up for it yourself.
The best part is that you can check whether it exists and where it’s registered using your CURP or Social Security Number (NSS).
How to Find Out Which Afore You’re With: Step by Step
The National Commission for the Retirement Savings System (CONSAR) has a tool to help you locate your account. The process is simple:
- Go to the official AforeWeb website.
- Look for the option “Don’t remember which Afore you’re with?”
- Select whether you want to check using your CURP or NSS.
- Enter your information and an email address.
- Click “Next” and check your inbox.
If the search is successful, you’ll receive an email with the name of the Afore that manages your account and its contact information.
You can also check using the AforeMóvil app or call SARTEL toll-free at 55 1328 5000.
What if you can’t find your Afore?
If the system can’t find your account, check to make sure you’ve entered your CURP or NSS correctly. If the information is correct, you can request assistance to clarify your situation.
And if you’ve already found your Afore but want to know how much money you have saved, you’ll need to request your account statement from the corresponding administrator.
Remember that finding your Afore doesn’t mean you can withdraw that money right away. Withdrawals depend on the requirements established for each case.
