Hold me tight—a night of singing at the top of our lungs is coming! This Wednesday, August 26, Juanga Fest will take place in Mexico City, a free event that will pay tribute to the world of Juan Gabriel through art, music, karaoke, and even an impersonation show.
The event will take place at Casa UC in the Condesa neighborhood as part of Museum Night activities. And take note: the purpose of this gathering goes beyond simply singing the greatest hits of the “Divo de Juárez.” Under the premise “It’s not about imitating Juanga; it’s about reinterpreting his universe, ” the event aims to explore his legacy through various disciplines and forms of expression.
There will be an exhibition, Juan Gabriel karaoke, and a DJ set
One of the highlights of Juanga Fest will be a tribute exhibition featuring 10 artists, who will reinterpret Juan Gabriel’s imagery and legacy through their own unique perspectives.
But it’ll be hard to just stand there admiring the artworks. There will also be group karaoke throughout the night, so start warming up your voice—because more than one person is sure to end up singing those Juanga songs that practically all of Mexico knows.
The program is rounded out with an impersonation show and a DJ set, turning the evening into a mix of exhibition, party, and tribute. The entire event will last two and a half hours.
Juanga Fest will be free, but you’ll need to register in advance
Admission to Juanga Fest is free, although space is limited. To attend, you must register in advance by emailing ucnochedemuseos@gmail.com.
