We already know all the details of the kite exhibition 2026 at MAP! Get ready to see an exhibition full of color and creativity, which will arrive just in time for spring.
Shaped like birds, stars and even wrestlers. Every year the kite exhibition at the Museo de Arte Popular surprises us with the creativity of each of the participants. And this year 2026 will be no exception.
When will the 2026 kite exhibition begin at the MAP?
According to the call published on the museum’s website, the kite exhibition will run from February 21 to April 5, 2026. You have several months to see it, you can even take advantage of the Easter vacations.
It is important to emphasize that this exhibition is part of a contest, which is aimed at Mexican or foreign artists and artisans residing in Mexico. This time the theme will be the Central Library, so each kite should reflect the relevance of this precinct, which celebrates 70 years of existence.
The kites you will see are huge, as they must measure a minimum of 1.50 x 3 meters and a maximum of 3 x 6 meters. Each piece will be made with paper, fabric or natural materials.
The winners will win economic prizes:
- First place: $20,000
- Second place: $15,000
- Third place: $10,000
Registration for the contest closes on February 5 at 3:00 pm. If you want to participate, here is the complete call for entries so you can take a look and register.
The exhibition will be at the Museo de Arte Popular ( Revillagigedo 11, colonia Centro, alcaldía Cuauhtémoc). It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 hours. The entrance fee is $60.
