Liliana’s Invincible Summer,a story written by Cristina Rivera Garza, leaps off the pages to surprise us on the stage of the Julio Castillo Teatro del Bosque. The monologue, performed by actress Cecilia Suárez, will be presented in late 2026.
This nonfiction novel leaves a lasting impression on its readers; through a collection of diaries, texts, and memoirs, Cristina Rivera Garza manages to reconstruct the hopes, dreams, and brilliant school life of her sister Liliana, who was murdered in the 1990s in Mexico City.
With love and dignity at the forefront, the author writes alongside Liliana, demonstrating that behind the statistic of a femicide in Mexico there was a life lived to the fullest. In this way, she allows us to get to know her, remember her, and connect with her through her light, not through the number.
For a short run, from December 10 to 20, 2026, Cecilia Suárez will portray Liliana in a powerful stage production based on the book.
Let us recall that this play premiered in Spain, leaving the audience moved by Liliana’s powerful presence as portrayed by Cecilia Suárez.
