The carnita asada is on! Masiosare is a cantina in the Coyoacán district that has everything you need to have fun, eat well and enjoy good drinks. On weekends there is a free fork of grilled meats for $300.
Although this place opened a little more than a year ago, it has all the vibe of a century-old cantina: endearing music, a super-equipped bar and snacks that parade along with the vats and mezcals.
On the menu there are some specialties such as cochinita, chamorro, aguachile and chicken with mole. Snacks are served Monday through Friday (16:00 to 22:00); there are between five and six options that arrive at your table as you order drinks. Although, you will also have the option of a menu of the day during the week.
How does the free fork work at this Coyoacán cantina?
In the back there is a terrace where, on Saturday and Sunday, you can enjoy the free fork. It costs $300 and includes a lot of meats cooked on the grill. Bring a lot of hunger so you can eat as many as you want!
First, you’ll be served a salad plate and then the entree will arrive in the middle with chistorra sausage, BBQ ribs, Spanish and Argentine chorizo, caramelized onions and baked potato with cheese. Later, the table will be adorned with picaña, New York, arrachera, sirloin and other premium cuts prepared on the spot.
You should know that the food is arriving at your table, so you will have to be a little patient waiting for the next rounds. Organize your time well, as this modality is available from 13:00 to 18:00.
To accompany your meal, you can order something from their varied selection of spirits, wines and appetizers. There are also signature cocktails. We tried a couple: Malinche with mezcal, hibiscus and cardadamom, and arcángel divino (our favorite) with liqueur, coconut and cinnamon. Note that drinks are not included in the free fork.
That’s how much fun Masiosare is
The food and drinks are already the perfect excuse to head to Coyoacán to visit this cantina. However, that’s not the only thing you can do, as there is a ping pong table, TVs to watch sports games and occasionally dancing and live music. Special events are announced through their social networks.
