The history of this majestic site is fascinating. According to the castle’s official website, its origins date back to 1686, when the land belonged to the San Francisco Javier mining estate. During that time, hundreds of workers under the command of the Viceroy of New Spain were engaged in mining operations.
As the mining industry declined, the site was converted into a shelter and a hospital shortly before closing. It wasn’t until 1951 that the property was acquired by Don Manuel Quezada Brandy, who transformed it into a hotel with the characteristics of a medieval castle.
In addition to being a hotel, its beautiful design and architecture have made the place the perfect setting for filming movies such as *Capulina contra las momias de Guanajuato* and the telenovela *Amor gitano*, to name just a few.
