This Monday, September 1, a mega-march of transportation workers will take place in CDMX, a mobilization that could cause important road blockades just in time for the return to school.
The protest has been organized by the Fuerza Amplia de Transportistas, and more than 7,500 units are expected to participate.
The mobilization will begin at 7:00 a.m. and includes closures at multiple strategic points in the city, including accesses from the State of Mexico, as well as important avenues such as Calzada de Tlalpan and the Mexico-Puebla highway.
Blockades are expected at highway entrances to the north, south, east and west of the city. School zones, primary avenues and routes to work centers could also be impacted, further complicating mobility in the context of the beginning of the school year.
Why are the carriers protesting?

The drivers are demanding an increase in public transport fares from the Mexico City Government, as well as a fuel bonus and the homologation of fares with those of the State of Mexico. In addition, they denounce lack of security on the roads where they operate daily.
Recommendations
The mega-march of transportation workers in CDMX will not only affect motorists, but also thousands of students, teachers and workers.
Authorities have asked citizens to take precautions, plan alternative routes and consider using public transportation to avoid setbacks. Check traffic conditions in real time, avoid affected areas and leave with extra time if you need to travel that day.
