Finally! Mexican “milagritos” will take center stage in a new workshop at one of the most iconic venues in the Historic Center. The Palacio de Minería will host an event where you can make your own “milagrito” for $100.
The event will take place on Saturday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m., and the workshop will be led by Alma Martínez Cruz. Important details! This activity is for people ages 15 and older and requires advance registration.
Not sure what “milagritos” are? They’re small pieces traditionally associated with prayers, expressions of gratitude, and signs of faith. You’ve probably seen them in the shape of hearts, arms, legs, eyes, animals, and other figures, especially in religious settings and folk art.
What will the Milagritos Workshop at the Palacio de Minería be like?
During this activity, you’ll be able to create your own piece with the guidance of Alma Martínez Cruz. This workshop centers on these small objects, popularly known as “milagritos,” allowing each participant to create their own.
Plus, the workshop is a chance to visit the Palacio de Minería, located in Mexico City’s Historic Center. Did you know this building was designed by the Valencian architect and sculptor Manuel Tolsá and is currently part of UNAM’s heritage?
