Behind the doors of a dark, medieval-looking hallway lies a themed restroom area where each stall offers a different dimension: a space surrounded by clouds, an indoor jungle, a ceiling lined with surveillance cameras, and even an octopus peeking out of a pipe. These settings are part of Thalamus, a new secret rooftop bar inspired by the logic of dreams, where the main DJ booth is shaped like a giant hypothalamus.
To enter this spot in Roma Norte, visitors must first climb a set of emergency stairs. Inside, the surrealist architectural design includes illuminated staircases that lead nowhere and an open-air terrace decorated with bewildering elements, such as a life-size hand and enormous Sonny Angel doll figures. Moving through the space is designed to mimic the experience of wandering through disconnected rooms within a dream.

The bar’s musical lineup is dedicated to electronic music, specifically house and minimal genres, featuring a roster of national and international DJs who take the booth every night.
The bar enhances the experience with drinks served in unusual containers that resemble projectiles, oversized pillboxes, or gnome-shaped vessels. Among the drinks, the Aperol Slush stands out—a frosted version of the traditional cocktail.
As for food, the venue has an exclusive partnership and is the only establishment in the capital offering the official Shake Shack menu, allowing customers to order burgers directly to their table while listening to the sets.

Thalamus is open Thursday through Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. To ensure entry, you must make a reservation in advance by sending a direct message on their social media or via WhatsApp at 55 8369 4322.
Admission before 9:00 p.m. is free. Those arriving after that time must pay a 300-peso cover charge at the building’s entrance, located at 205 Durango Street. We’ve already been there. Here’s a little preview of everything you’ll see.
