Can you imagine visiting an old former convent in the middle of the forest at night? Dare to live the experience and take part in the Night Legends in the Desierto de los Leones show.
In this tour a monk will guide you through the facilities of the former convent of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in complete darkness while he tells you the legends and stories of the site. The experience has audio and lighting effects.
According to the organizers, the experience is based on the legends captured in a book more than 400 years old. Each of the stories is told in a different part of the venue in total darkness. The only light that attendees see is that carried by the monks who narrate the stories.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as you will be walking for quite a while in total darkness. We also recommend you to dress warmly, because, although spring is coming, the truth is that in this area of Mexico City it is very cold, especially at night.
You pull? This is how you can go to Leyendas Nocturnas at the ex convent of Desierto de los Leones.
After a break, next Friday, March 21, the 2025 season of this nocturnal show will begin. There are two performances every week: one on Fridays and the other on Sundays. They take place at 9:00 pm and 8:00 pm respectively. Adults can attend as well as children from 6 years old and up.
To attend it is necessary to make a reservation by WhatsApp to this number: 55 65 01 97 50 or through their Facebook page. There they will inform you about the cost of the event.
We already had the opportunity to see the show. It is a great experience to walk through this historic place in complete darkness. Here is a little bit of what we experienced last year. Also, you should know that the experience does not have transportation and there is no cell phone signal in the former convent, so we highly recommend you to go by car.
The former convent of Nuestra Señora del Carmen is an old construction from the XVII century located in Desierto de los Leones, Cuajimalpa. It was originally built as a place of retreat, since it is located in the middle of the forest, away from the center of Mexico City.
At the beginning it was inhabited by members of the Discalced Carmelite Order. To this day you can still see the cells and common areas they used.
Location of the experience: former convent of Desierto de los Leones (Mexico-Toluca highway S/N, Cuajimalpa de Morelos, CDMX).
