Music, pottery, dance performances, and much more at this festival dedicated to Oaxaca in Mexico City. It will last an entire weekend, and admission is free. Mark your calendars—it’s just around the corner.
The first weekend in July will bring the Oaxaca Festival at Los Pinos, an event where we’ll get a taste of the state’s culture, traditions, and cuisine. A press release detailed that all kinds of traditional dishes will be available, such as tlayudas, pipián tostadas with nopales and chapulines, mole negro, and even pescadillas.
Of course, there will be no shortage of chepil tamales, mole tacos, and coastal-style pozole. There will be a wide variety of dishes.
When will this Oaxaca festival take place in Mexico City?
The festival will be held at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex and will last two days: July 4 and 5. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., there will be all kinds of activities. As for music, the Donají Band, the Los Tejones Nee Bya International Traditional Orchestra, and Zapotec soprano Paris Alana Kimberly, among others, will perform.
In addition, there will be various workshops. There will be one on painting alebrijes, another on temporary tattoos, and even one on carving traditional figures out of stone.
During the event, you’ll also have the chance to buy products from Oaxaca, such as snacks, chocolates, mezcal, and even honey. There will be a little bit of everything.
