The news that the permanent driver’s license would return to the CDMX has stolen everyone’s attention. Here we tell you everything you need to know!
The initiative to establish the issuance of a permanent license as a right has been approved by Congress, so now you will be able to issue your license starting November 16.
You will be able to change your license directly in the CDMX app or in the SEMOVI modules until December 2025.
This procedure can be done in all modules of the Ministry of Mobility, and will cost $1,500 pesos.
All funds obtained through this procedure will be administered by a public trust and will be used to finance public transportation infrastructure works, non-motorized mobility and a road safety program.
If you have already had your type A license for more than 3 years, you will be able to automatically complete this procedure.
Is this the first time you are applying for your license? You must take a mandatory theory test to obtain your permanent driver’s license.
In this test you will be asked about road safety, vehicle safety, knowledge of road regulations and driving skills.
The test can be taken digitally and in person at the modules of the Secretariat of Mobility. The doors of the UTOPIAs and FAROs will also be open to take the test.
What do you need to take the exam?
This license seeks to reinforce road safety in all aspects and we tell you who will be able to acquire their permanent driver’s license:
