If you have a dog that goes everywhere with you, this event could become one of your favorites of the year. The 2026 Pétalo CDMX Race has opened registration for an event where families, friends, and pets will share a morning of exercise, togetherness, and fun in the city.
Unlike other races, here it doesn’t matter who finishes first. The goal of the Pétalo “Dejando Huella” Race is to enjoy the course as a group and cross the finish line together. That’s why participants can register individually or form teams of up to five members, with the option to include one or more pets.
In addition, all runners who complete the course will receive a finisher’s medal. And yes, dogs will be recognized too: those who participate wearing their distinctive scarf will receive a doggy medal upon finishing.
There will be a 5-kilometer run and a 3-kilometer walk
Participants can choose between two categories. The first is a 5-kilometer recreational run, open to people ages 12 and up. The second is a 3-kilometer walk, open to participants ages 6 and up.
One of the event’s most unique features is that families and groups will compete as a single unit. Each team will receive a single bib number and timing chip so that everyone can complete the course together and record the same time when crossing the finish line.
The organizers also remind participants that the well-being of pets is a priority. If your dog is elderly, has a medical condition, or isn’t used to physical activity, they recommend consulting a veterinarian beforehand.
A pet-friendly experience with no competitive awards
The 2026 Pétalo CDMX Race is designed as a recreational, family-friendly experience, so there will be no awards for first-place finishers. The goal is to promote healthy habits, strengthen bonds, and enjoy a unique morning with those you love most—including the four-legged members of the family.
The starting waves will be divided between participants with and without dogs to ensure a more comfortable and safe experience for everyone.
If you’d like to participate with your pet, you’ll need to fill out a questionnaire and then pay your registration fee plus your pet’s registration fee. The additional cost is 160 pesos per pet, and yes, you can participate with more than one dog by paying the fee for each pet (maximum of 3 dogs per person).
