If you’re already missing dance floors filled with disco hits, ’80s pop, and ’90s classics, this event in Mexico City is for you. The Casa del Risco Museum will celebrate International Museum Day with a special edition of Retro Night Vol. II, a dance party inspired by the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s.
The event will take place as part of the temporary exhibition Apertura: Aesthetic Drifts of a Generation, a show that explores key moments in the history of modern art in Mexico and pays tribute to artists who transformed the national art scene during the second half of the 20th century.
The combination sounds quite appealing: a cultural tour, a lively nightlife atmosphere, and a dance floor filled with musical nostalgia within one of San Ángel’s most beautiful venues.
Retro music and a nightlife atmosphere at a museum in Mexico City
Retro Night Vol. II aims to transform the Casa del Risco Museum into a space unlike any other. Throughout the evening, you’ll be able to listen to music inspired by the 70s, 80s, and 90s, as well as enjoy the special atmosphere created within the museum during the nighttime activities.
The cover charge will be $100 pesos and space is limited, so it’s worth reserving your spot in advance. It’s a great option for those looking for unique cultural experiences in Mexico City or simply wanting to dance to retro classics in a historic setting.

The “Apertura” exhibition will be on view through May
In addition to the retro event, you can also take the opportunity to visit the exhibition Apertura: Aesthetic Drifts of a Generation, on view through May 24, 2026.
The exhibition traces different stages of Mexican modern art, from academicism and muralism to the so-called Apertura Generation, composed of artists born between the 1950s and 1960s. Through the work of 29 artists, the exhibition explores how new forms of aesthetic experimentation emerged that broke with the muralist tradition and paved the way for new creative movements.
Exhibition dates: January 29 to May 24, 2026
