Do you really “want to fly, want to fly”…? World Cup euphoria has given rise to various ways of celebrating, and one of them—which went viral—is known as “want to fly, ” but beyond being a celebration, it can pose serious risks.
The Mexico City Department of Public Health, via social media, warned that tossing people into the air can cause:
Injuries to the back, shoulders, neck, and wrists; muscle strains; falls; blows to the head; concussions; fractures; sprains; and even loss of life.
Health Secretary Nadine Gasman said that during the celebrations for the match between Mexico and Ecuador, medical aid stations will be set up along Paseo de la Reforma, along with ambulances, addiction screening services, and a 280-person public safety team.
But don’t put yourself in danger! Think twice about whether you really want to take a chance, and avoid risks during the celebration.
