The first edition of the Festival de la Ópera is about to begin! The program includes operas by Puccini, Jacques Offenbach’s comedy and even a micro opera dedicated to the life of Rosario Castellanos. If you like this musical genre, you can’t miss the program.
The performances will take place from August 7 to 30 at different venues in the city, such as the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center and the Teatro del Bosque. Some of the concerts you can enjoy are La Perra Chola, La Capa and Tríptico Mexicano.
The festival kicks off with several performances of La Perra Chola, the sung comedy by Jacques Offenbach. This show will be presented by the International Philharmonic Orchestra and the German School Choir.
La Capa, an opera by Giacomo Puccini, continues. The Teatro del Bosque will present Tríptico Mexicano, a concert consisting of three micro operas that represent passages in the lives of Rosario Castellanos, Gonzalo Guerrero and Fidel Castro.
Operas in silent films close the festival with a flourish. This is a double bill with silent films set to live music. You will enjoy Gianni Schicchi and Sor Angelica with operas by Puccini.
