If you want to add a greener touch to your home or learn more about Mexican flora, mark these dates on your calendar. The Botanical Garden of the UNAM Institute of Biology (IBUNAM) will host another edition of “Sábado Nativo,” a free event where you can visit the Native Plant Propagation Greenhouse and purchase specimens and seeds of various species.
The event will take place on August 8 and 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. During the event, you can tour the greenhouse, learn more about the importance of conserving native plants, and take some home to create a space that’s more friendly to local biodiversity.
A free activity for plant lovers
The best part about this event is that it’s free and doesn’t require prior registration, so all you have to do is show up during the scheduled hours to participate.
The greenhouse will be located near the Tigridia Store, inside the IBUNAM Botanical Garden. Additionally, on August 8 and 29, parking will be available, making it easier for those arriving by car to visit.
Native plants and seeds will also be available for purchase on-site—an excellent opportunity to start a garden with species adapted to Mexico City’s climate and support the conservation of local flora.
