This iconic venue in Mexico City is celebrating its 89th anniversary. To mark the occasion, there will be several events this weekend at Salón Los Ángeles, all filled with music and dancing.
The Salón Los Ángeles opened its doors on August 2, 1937. Over the years, the venue has become a must-visit spot in Mexico City for dancing danzón, mambo, salsa, tropical music, and many other musical genres.
This weekend marks its 89th anniversary, and it’s celebrating in a big way with several events. Are you going to join the party? Check out all the details.
Here’s what the Salón Los Ángeles anniversary celebration will look like
There will be several events to celebrate in style. The Grand Anniversary Ball will take place this Saturday, August 1, starting at 6:00 p.m. Performing groups will include La Danzonera de México: Acerina, Los Reyes del Mambo by Richie Cárdenas, and Los Llayras, among others.
On Sunday, August 2, at 5:00 p.m., there will be an event called “Salsa, Son, and Cumbia Special,” featuring Orquesta La Revelación and Sonora Chocolate, among others, who will get everyone dancing.
On Tuesday, August 4, there will be a special danzón event paying tribute to the rumberas and pachucos. Finally, on August 22, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra will perform.
