The 2026 San Ángel Flower Fair is already beginning to take shape. Although the full official program has not yet been announced, there is already one important confirmation: registration for the traditional painting contest is now open.
This competition, which will celebrate its 47th edition in 2026, is one of the fair’s most iconic events and takes place as part of the 169th edition of this historic celebration.
With over a century of history, this fair is one of the oldest in Mexico City. Its origins date back to the 17th century with the festivities in honor of the Virgin of Carmen, and in 1857 it was officially recognized as a national fair. Since then, it has become a deeply rooted tradition in the San Ángel neighborhood.
What can we expect in 2026?
Although no official program has been published yet, previous editions give us clear clues as to what usually happens during these weeks.
Every year, venues such as La Bombilla Park, San Jacinto Square, and various cultural venues in the neighborhood come alive with exhibitions, music, and activities for all ages. One of the main attractions is the sale and display of flowers and plants, including exotic species such as orchids, cacti, and dahlias.
Art and culinary workshops, lectures, concerts, and folk dance performances are also commonly held. The streets and colonial mansions are decorated with floral arrangements, while squares such as San Jacinto and Tenanitla become venues for outdoor cultural activities.
The atmosphere is completely festive: from dance troupes to live music and a culinary offering that brings together flavors from different regions of the country.
